The older I get, the more I just love finding folk

The older I get, the more I just love finding folks I totally vibe with — where small talk immediately turns into conversations about everything from how trees communicate, the food system, climate change the best pizza place you’ve ever been to, what you want to be when you grow up (I still don’t know!!!), your favorite thrift items, how recycling is a scam, what kind of chicken breeds you like, your favorite book, the merits of moving out of the country (honestly I think about this A LOTTTTT)…it’s like a ping pong match of topics!!

It’s funny because I recently got a DM from a woman and she told me that she thought my content had taken a negative turn lately… And that I was almost shaming people for not “living the way I live.”

What she failed to realize is that I’ve really worked hard to remove the filter that I put everything through, where I would be afraid to post sometimes for fear of upsetting people one way or another. And that’s no way to live! So what you see is what you get.

I think everyone is free to make their own choices obviously, but I’m not gonna hide the fact that I think Botox is unnecessary or that every single person would be better off without alcohol in their lives or that fast fashion is ruining our planet.

And if you don’t like that… You can go ahead and Unfollow me because there are so many other accounts out there who will better serve you! ☮️

Hatch day was Mother’s Day, of all days! Such a cool and wonderful experience — especially compared to getting day old chicks last year and having my office be completely coated in chicken dust 😆

This was my first time hatching fertilized eggs under a hen (and hatching eggs, period!) and I’m by *no* means an expert but happy to answer any questions about my experience with this! 🐣

Let me preface this by saying I’ve already gotten a freshly picked bouquet of flowers, a beautiful card with heartfelt words, a delicious breakfast in bed, coffee in bed, getting out of bed at 8:30 while my husband did everything — dishes, morning kid stuff, etc! I don’t know how moms do it without a partner to truly share the load, and even with an incredible partner…motherhood is A FREAKING LOT!

Also, if this day is hard for you, I see you. I lost my mom in 2011 when I was 25 and honestly until I became a mom, I really really really disliked this day. Sending you lots of love if you have a fraught relationship with this day. ❤️

Laundry? Dishes? Never heard of them. Find me outside putzing around the garden, weeding (maybe!), planting, scheming, dreaming…but forgetting that come mid-August I’ll be up to my eyeballs in weeds and pests and tomatoes to train 😆 A girl can dream, right!?
