New 2024 goal unlocked: attracting a murder of crows as my own personal chicken guardians. Seeing them chase a pesky hawk off recently was a thing of wonder and now I have a special whistle that I do when I see crows and out treats out for them 🥹🐦‍⬛

🍔big mac salad🍔 - heaping portion of greens

🍔big mac salad🍔
- heaping portion of greens — cabbage, kale, lettuce, whatever you have!
- sliced cherry tomatoes
- pickles! So many pickles. @famousdaves or @grillospickles are my faves
- diced red onion
- burger patty of your choice — beef, turkey, veggie, whatever your heart and belly desire
- grated cheddar cheese

For the dressing measure with your heart some mayo, relish, and ketchup. I’ve also done this with Greek yogurt but was in a mayo mood ya know?? Especially @kewpieusa!!

Ugh it’s just so delicious and filling and I couldn’t tell you the last time I had a Big Mac (not bc I’m anti-McDonald’s but I was always a filet o’ fish girl personally!) but it reminds me of it so much.

I also don’t talk about this much but with both pregnancies I’ve lost 60 lbs after each kid, and big filling salads like this have been so key for that!

Obviously I’ll be making this with homegrown veggies this summer but until then, I’m using whatever I have from the store 🛒

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, as they say! Or

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, as they say! Or in our case, the recurring broody chicken gets the fertilized eggs. This is her third time going broody since December, and she only started laying last October — she’s one persistent, determined, and stubborn lady. Takes one to know one 😆

I thought about putting day old chicks under her, but opportunity knocked AKA my friend @actonfoodforest has a rooster and gave me some eggs…so we shall see what happens! She is SO happy to not be in broody jail and have me reaching under her grabbing her clutch of eggs she sits on.

I put 12 under her, because we aren’t sure about some of them — but this could escalate quickly. I’ll report back in 3 weeks 🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣

If this reaches you, HELLO!! I absolutely love meeting fellow level-headed people who are into plants and baking but also have let their kids eat Goldfish before because freaking DUH??!! Like our entire generation grew up on capri sun and dunkaroos and yes we eat healthy yummy homemade food but I’m not trying to raise my kids under a rock.

I just like growing food and being a homebody and learning about nature, but I also believe in science and female reproductive health. I always dread finding a cool new account then realizing there are some big 🚩🚩🚩 so hopefully this finds the right folks!!
