But how can you not post a picture of bread this good. I am beginning to get a really consistently good “no-knead” bread. Conditions:
1 cup starter
3 c flour
1.5 c warm water
just over 2 t salt.
mix with a spoon. sit from 8 AM to 2 pm. scrape onto parchment paper in a frying pan (to hold shape). rise for 1 hour. dump in dutch oven preheated to 450. immediately lower heat to 425. 30 mins. covered, 25 minutes uncovered.
yum!

So this came out of the garden and went into dinner: potato, onion, sauteed lettuce frittata, salad and bread. Eggs in part from below

Ok seriously, this just sends me over the top. My friend Sam, from below, has also started raising chickens. He was out of town and asked me to feed his chickens in exchange for the eggs. These are they. But how much am I LOVIN’ home grown eggs. For the most the chickens eat grass, which makes their eggs v. high in Omega-3′s and makes them orangier than we are used to. But so cool. I meant to have pictures of that too, but maybe next time.
And yes, I am pretty sure that this means that we will be raising chickens in the near future.

yeah, the Brandow family is expanding in lots of ways (see photo above). New baby, new bigger black car to fit baby, and two new beds that are just awaiting some soil amending goodness and then we are ready to plant. We still need to finish the walkway, but I have finally broken down under the weight of my own desire to have this project finished and decided to pay someone to do most of the digging, and laying of bricks. Can’t wait, really!
but the asparagus has been ordered, and I have already laid in some Morel spawn in one section, hoping to get lucky
